The Secretary of State is responsible for documenting business partnerships, registering trade names and giving out certificates of registration. They also manage the elections process serving as Chief Elections Officer and are responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of all voting devices. Responsible for inspecting mines that have more than 50 workers every three months and all other mines annually. A Corporation Commissioner is one of five members of the Corporation Commission which provides legal oversight of the regulations that apply to utility companies and approves or disapproves non-municipal utility company requests for energy and water rate adjustments in Arizona. The superintendent oversees the state of Arizona's public school system and directs the Arizona Department of Education. The governing body for unincorporated Pima County divided into 5 districts. Each member is responsible for representing the interests and constituents of their district and jointly governing the county. One member is elected by the board to serve as the Chairperson of the board. The board is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the County Manager and various County departments and for setting county level taxes. The Clerk of the Pima County Superior Court is elected for a 4-year term to be the administrative and record-keeping hub for the county's judicial system. A four year term elected judiciary position. A Justice of The Peace oversees civil lawsuits where the amount in dispute is $10,000 or less, landlord and tenant disputes, small claims cases and a full range of civil and criminal traffic offenses, including DUIs. Justices of the Peace also resolve other types of misdemeanor allegations. The constable’s duties are to execute, serve and return all processes and legal documents as directed by the court including on behalf of the local court, county agencies and other governing bodies as directed. A Constable is an elected Peace Officer of the County and their Judicial Precinct. PARTY PRECINCT COMMITTEEMAN
A Precint Committeeman is elected to a two-year term that begins on October 1 after the primary election and continues to the following October 1. A Precinct Committeeman assists the party to which she/he belongs in voter registration and in assisting voters of that party on election days. A Fire District Board Member is a non-partisan official elected to a district board by the voters in that district. The Metropolitan Domestic Water Improvement District of Pima County (MDWID), or Metro Water Tucson, has an elected board of five members who each serve a term of four years. The Pima Community College (PCC) Governing Board is a five-member elected body responsible for setting district-wide policies, hiring and evaluating the Chancellor, approving budgets and tuition rates, and ensuring the college meets its mission and legal requirements to serve Pima County residents. 2026 PIMA COUNTY ELECTIONS: District 1
A school district board member in Pima County is elected to a 4-year unpaid, public-service position that establishes the policies for local public schools. They do not run the day-to-day operations of the schools; instead, their primary duties include: 1) hiring and evaluating the Superintendent; 2) adopting the district’s annual budget, approving expenditures, employee salary schedules and capital improvement projects; 3) creating and revising policies that determine everything from student discipline codes to graduation requirements; 4) approving the educational materials, textbooks, and academic curriculum used across the district; 5) approving district boundaries, school closures, building maintenance priorities, and bond initiatives; and 6) serving as a bridge between the community and the school district, holding regular public meetings and taking constituent feedback into consideration for district decisions.
